SAIL Teen Crew Update

It is with utmost disappointment that SAIL Autism has to announce that the start of the SAIL Teen Crew will have to be delayed.

Supporting Autism In Lanarkshire (SAIL Autism) is a small local charity, managed by parents. We formed in August 2016 with the aim of supporting individuals, their families and professional working in the field of autism.

We had an open evening for the club on April 24th where we were overwhelmed by the interest in the Teen Crew. We now have a list of some 28 families, with interest continuing to come forward.

SAIL Autism is keen to provide a much needed social opportunity to our teenagers, but the level of interests means we need to re-access how we will manage and run such a large group. We are continuing to look for funding, in particular for staffing.

Uppermost on our minds is creating a sustainable service so that our teens are not disappointed down the line.

While we arrange the SAIL Teen Crew, there are several groups run out of ARCH including the Monday Parent Carers Group from 10 – 12 noon. COAST run a group directed to parents and carers of younger children on a Tuesday from 10 – 2pm. Our own group for young adults (from 18 to 25) runs on a Wednesday evening from 7 – 9pm.

If you have already filled out an application form for the SAIL Teen Crew we will keep you up to date with the plans for the group, but don’t foresee the group starting until later in the year.

We thank you for your support and understand your frustration and will keep you up to date with developments.
