Lodge Donates £5300 to sail autism

A sail autism  was the beneficiary of a generous donation from Lodge St Andrew 524 East Kilbride on Saturday night (10th December).

A range of events have been undertaken over the past year in aid of sail autism, including Quiz Nights, an 80s disco, sponsored bike events and a Paranormal Evening.

“This is a great start to our new charity,” said Linda Morrow, Chairperson of sail autism.

“A small group of parents formed the charity in August to support families from all over Lanarkshire. Our aim is to provide social groups and events for people with autism of all ages.”

In partnership with South Lanarkshire Council, sail autism has started a group for young adults at the new ARCH project in Reid Street, Hamilton.

“The sail crew group is open to all young adults with autism,” added Linda Morrow. “We are also looking for more volunteers to help grow our activities”.

Lodge St Andrew 524 East Kilbride was founded in 1872 and exists under the Grand Lodge of Scotland. Freemasonry is a society of men concerned with moral and spiritual values.

“The Lodge St Andrew 524 practises this through tolerance and respect for the opinions of others; are taught to practise charity and to care for the community as a whole, both by charitable giving and by voluntary efforts and works as individuals,” says William McJimpsey, Right Worshipful Master.

“We are pleased to be able to assist in the setting up of sail autism and wish them all the best for the future.”
